Institutional Planning

Strategic Planning

Strategic planning is a vital, continuous commitment that contributes to the success of South Mountain Community College.  The strategic plan forms the basis for all activities undertaken by the college in pursuit of its mission; and prioritizes and assigns the resources needed to implement them.

Our Strategic Plan includes strategic directions, institutional priorities, goals and objectives for a three-year cycle. The strategic planning model is influenced by the college’s long-term and operational planning, as well as internal initiatives and external trends impacting the college.

The existing strategic plan is being revised to ensure alignment with the recently adopted Maricopa County Community College District Governing Board Outcomes. The revision process will include a series of strategic conversations with staff, students, and the community that focus on college strengths, future trends, existing resources and innovative ways to respond to the changing needs of the community we serve. The revised plan will be finalized in January 2012.
