If you hear your neighbors singing in French, speaking German in the grocery store, ordering sushi in Japanese, or giving directions in Spanish -- here’s why:
 
They have probably taken language classes at the South Mountain Community College Ahwatukee Foothills Center.

In recent months, 157 community members have said ‘oui,’ ‘si,’ (and more) to Speedy language classes – many of them offered through the Ahwatukee Foothills Center. Many classes are six weeks, and more advanced classes may run up to two months. The classes focus on the spoken language.
 
“The classes are fun and efficiently taught,” notes Dr. Cheryl Crutcher,  SMCC  Ahwatukee Foothills Center Director. “Students rave about our Speedy language classes and frequently return for more advanced  - or new – language classes.”
 
Of the recent 157 students, 21 were enrolled in German, 25 in French, 80 in Spanish (including Laveen and Main campus locations), 20 in Italian, and 11 in Japanese.
 
The classes are believed to be the only ones like them in the area.
 
Below is the upcoming schedule for Speedy classes through the Ahwatukee Foothills Center.

SPEEDY LANGUAGE CLASSES

Classes for all Speedy French and Speedy German classes are from 6:30 to 8:45 pm. Tuition for all of the classes below is $65, plus a one-time per-semester registration fee of $15. (Classes after July 1 are subject to a change in price).

• Speedy French II, March 21 – April 25, Wednesdays.
• Speedy French III, May 2 – June 6 Wednesdays.
• Speedy German II, March 20 – April 24, Tuesdays.
• Speedy German III, May 1 – June 5, Tuesdays.

• Speedy Spanish I, May 29 – July 3, Tuesdays, 9:15 to 11:30 am.
