Concert & Clinics are Set for the Weekend
“Jazz Vocalist Extraordinaire” Dennis Rowland, with The Jazz Experience, will be featured in concert at the 2008 South Mountain Community College Jazz Festival on Feb. 29.
Joining Rowland at the Friday concert will be the SMCC Jazz Ensemble and the SMCC Vocal Jazz Ensemble.
The Friday concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Performance Hall of SMCC, 7050 S. 24th St., just north of Baseline Rd. Tickets are $10 and available at Showup.com.
The following day (Sat., March 1), jazz enthusiasts are invited to attend free clinics from 10 a.m. to noon in Performance Hall.
Rowland will serve as a guest clinician at these master classes and workshops. Also teaching will be SMCC Faculty Henry Rose, who will teach keyboard, and additional SMCC faculty members who teach brass, reeds, and percussion classes.
