Elementary, middle-school and high school basketball and volleyball players will get the chance to train with SMCC coaches and players at two four-day camps and a single day clinic this summer.

Registration is now underway for South Mountain Community College’s popular summer youth sports camps.  The four-day camps will focus on fundamental techniques key to each sport, including game scrimmages.

SMCC’s annual boys and girls basketball camp will be offered in two sessions July 23-26. Students in grades 5-8 will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, while students in grades 9-12 will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. Fee is $80 per participant.

The following week, volleyball takes center stage, with two sessions offered July 30-August 2.  Students in grades 6-8 will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, while students in grades 9-12 will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. Fees are $75 per participant for grades 6-8 and $80 per participant for grades 9-12.

Finally, a one-day volleyball clinic will be conducted on Saturday, August 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The clinic will stress basic techniques in passing, serving, hitting, blocking and defensive skills. Clinic fee is $40 per participant.

All camps and clinics take place at the SMCC Gym, 7050 S. 24th Street in Phoenix.
