Spring 2008 Registration Starts Oct. 22
The number of Asian-American students enrolling at South Mountain Community College has increased by almost 50 percent in the past two years.
Today, 158 Asian-American students are enrolled throughout SMCC at the main campus, 7050 S. 24th St., Phoenix; at the SMCC Ahwatukee Center; and the SMCC Guadalupe Center. That is an increase of 49 percent since 2005.
“We are pleased that the Asian-American community is increasingly discovering the exciting educational opportunities at SMCC,” President Ken Atwater said. “The college has so much to offer -- strong academics, the arts, and abundant extracurricular activities.” At the same time, Dr. Atwater said, “Greater numbers of Asian-American students add to the important element of diversity at SMCC.”
Spring Registration Begins Oct. 22
Meanwhile, registration begins Oct. 22 for Spring 2008 classes at SMCC. The spring schedule of classes will be posted on that date at http://www.southmountaincc.edu.
Spring classes begin Jan. 12 at the SMCC Main Campus and SMCC Ahwatukee Foothills Center, as well as at several locations in and around Laveen. Classes begin Jan. 26 at the SMCC Guadalupe Center. A new selection of online courses is also included for the spring semester.
To enroll at any site, students may register online or visit the SMCC Student Enrollment Services Center at the main college, 7050 S. 24th St. Academic advisors are available.
In addition, students may enroll onsite at the SMCC Ahwatukee Foothills Center at Horizon Community Learning Center, 16233 S. 48th St or speak with an academic advisor by phone, at 480.659.3070.
